About Nepal VAT
Nepal applies a 13% Value Added Tax (VAT) on most goods and services. VAT was introduced in Nepal in 1997 (2054 BS) and is administered by the Inland Revenue Department (IRD). Businesses with an annual turnover exceeding NPR 5 million are required to register for VAT. The VAT PAN (Permanent Account Number) is a 9-digit number used for tax identification.
